Kamieńczyk nad Bugiem
Kamieńczyk is located in the Masovian Voivodeship, Wyszków County, Wyszków Municipality, on the Bug and Liwiec rivers. In the past, this area was called Kamieniec, which explains the name of the Kamieniec Forest (Puszcza Kamieniecka).
The Kamieniec Forest is characterized by a great diversity of landscapes and specific topography. It consists of sand dunes, peat bogs situated between them, and a floodplain terrace along the river with a large meadow area. The forest stand consists mainly of pine and oak trees. The forest complex is located on the left bank of the Bug River and is a perfect place to catch your breath and find balance.
The proximity of the rivers provides an excellent space for anglers and kayakers. The Bug is one of the wildest European rivers and is used exclusively for recreational purposes. In such surroundings, you can admire the flora and fauna in their natural setting.

How to get there?
From Warsaw via expressway S8, take the Wyszków Południe (Wyszków South) exit onto national road No. 62 towards Łochów. Turn left (Warszawska Street), then turn right (Jagodowa Street).
A Bit of History
Kamieńczyk is currently a village, but the history of this place is unique. In the past, specifically in 1428, the village received town privileges and became a royal town of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland. It was then that the town developed and served increasingly important functions. Formerly, Kamieńczyk had a castle, a town hall, a cloth hall, three churches, and a monastery.
Due to the town’s location, specifically its proximity to the rivers, eight mills, a river port, and a customs house were built here. The town had over 300 brick houses, which was a sign of solid infrastructure.
The town’s decline began as early as the 17th century. It was primarily caused by a crisis resulting from an uncertain economic situation, as well as destruction caused by the Swedish wars. In the 19th century, the inhabitants engaged in agriculture and, during the summer season, in rafting (timber floating). The town was downgraded to the rank of a village in 1869 as a result of repressions following the January Uprising.
During World War II, Kamieńczyk suffered greatly and was almost completely burned down. However, the urban layout with a rectangular market square survived, as did the neo-Gothic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was built according to the design of Józef Pius Dziekoński in the years 1896–1900.
